The most common way to become infected with the COVID 19 virus is through our noses and/or mouth. Having healthy oral tissues (gums, tongue, cheeks, etc.) with no cuts, ulcers or bleeding gives us high resistance to this horrible bug. It has been strongly recommended by the State of Pennsylvania and the American Dental Association that dental practices close for up to 3 weeks. So, we cannot be seeing you for regular professional monitoring and maintenance (hygiene) right now which we believe is the most important service our office provides.
Our doctors and hygienists do “hygiene wellness” (as we call it) very well! Most of our patients receive low or zero (perfect) gum bleeding scores at these visits. Those who do are less likely to be infected by a foreign microbe like COVID 19.
Keep up your daily personal hygiene practices! A most effective “add on” now is dilute household bleach (1/2 to 1 teaspoon) in a 6 oz glass of water. Rinse with that solution or pour it into the tank of your waterpick/water flosser for once daily use.
If you are feeling any infection or detect any unusual swelling or bleeding in your mouth please phone us. We’re here for you!
